Nervous System

• Mind and Emotions: It is particularly useful for individuals who experience impetuous, violent outbursts of passion, hypochondriacal tendencies, and sadness. These individuals are often very sensitive to what others say about them and may dwell on sexual matters, preferring solitude. They can be peevish, with children crying for many things but refusing them when offered. Ill effects from anger and insults are notable, and the remedy can help with pain and nervousness following the extraction of teeth.

Head and Eyes

• Head: Symptoms include stupefying headaches that pass off with yawning, a sensation of the brain feeling squeezed, and a heavy feeling in the forehead. There may also be itching eruptions above and behind the ears, recurrent styes, and chalazæ. The eyes can appear sunken with blue rings around them, and the margins of the eyelids may itch. It is beneficial for lacerated or incised wounds of the cornea and for bursting pain in the eyeballs associated with syphilitic iritis.

Mouth and Throat

• Mouth: Toothache during menses, teeth that are black and crumbling, salivation, spongy gums that bleed easily, and swollen submaxillary glands are all indications. After eating, individuals may feel sleepy, and pyorrhea is also noted.
• Throat: There may be stitches flying to the ear on swallowing, especially on the left side.

Digestive System

• Stomach: Symptoms include a flabby and weak stomach, a desire for stimulants, a relaxed feeling in the stomach, a craving for tobacco, and canine hunger even when the stomach is full. Nausea after abdominal operations is also a common symptom.
• Abdomen: Colic after anger, hot flatus, swollen abdomen in children with much flatus, colic with pelvic tenesmus, and severe pain following an abdominal operation. Incarcerated flatus and diarrhea after drinking cold water with tenesmus are notable, as well as constipation and hemorrhoids with an enlarged prostate.

Genito-Urinary System

• Male: The remedy is especially indicated after self-abuse, with persistent dwelling on sexual subjects. Symptoms include spermatorrhea with sunken features, a guilty look, emissions with backache and weakness, and sexual neurasthenia. Dyspnea after coition is also noted.
• Female: Parts may be very sensitive, worse when sitting down. Symptoms include an irritable bladder in young married women, leucorrhea, prolapsus with sinking in the abdomen, and aching around the hips.
• Urinary: Indicated for cystocele, cystitis in lying-in patients, ineffectual urging to urinate in newly married women, pressure upon the bladder, and a sensation as if a drop of urine were rolling continuously along the channel. Burning in the urethra during micturition, prostatic troubles, frequent urination, and pain after lithotomy are also common.

Skin

• Skin: Effective for eczema of the head, ears, face, and body, with thick, dry scabs that itch violently. Fig-warts, arthritic nodes, inflammation of phalanges, and night sweats are also treated.

Extremities

• Extremities: Symptoms include muscles, especially of the calves, feeling bruised, backache worse in the morning before rising, extremities feeling beaten and painful, joints stiff, crural neuralgia, and dull aching of the nates extending to the hip-joint and small of back.

Modalities

• Worse: Symptoms are worse from anger, indignation, grief, mortification, loss of fluids, onanism, sexual excesses, tobacco, and the least touch on affected parts.
• Better: Symptoms improve after breakfast, with warmth, and with rest at night.

Relationships

• Inimical: Ranunculus bulb.
• Complementary: Causticum, Colocynthis.
• Comparisons: Ferrum pyrophos (for tarsal cysts), Colocynthis, Causticum, Ignatia, Phosphoric acid, and Caladium.
• Antidote: Camphor.

Dosage

• Potency: The remedy is commonly administered in third to thirtieth potency, tailored to the individual's specific symptoms and response.

About LM potency homeopathy medicines

In the sixth edition of ‘Organon,’ Dr. Hahnemann introduced a new system of dilution and potentization and called it “renewed dynamisation” with a diluting ratio of 1:50,000. It was named 50 millesimal potency or LM potency by Dr. Pierre Schmidt. In some parts of the world, it is also called Q potency. It soon got professional acceptance. To date, it is recognized by different homoeopathic pharmacopoeias including American and Indian.

What are they and how are they denoted?

These homoeopathic potencies are prepared in the diluting scale of 1:50,000 and denoted as 0/1, 0/2, 0/3…..etc. They are generally used up to 0/30.

Perceived advantages

• Highest development of power at each potency level.
• Mildest reaction – no medicinal aggravation.
• Frequent repetition is permitted; every hour or often in urgent cases.
• Quick cure in chronic cases where it can be given daily or often.
• 0/3 is more subtle than 30C or 200C and the 0/30 is sharper than CM as believed by many classical homoeopaths.

LM potency dosage: Generally LM potencies are administered as follows:

1. Take a 4oz (120ml) to 6oz (180ml) clean glass bottle. Fill it 3/4th with water. Take 1 or 2 globules of the desired potency (often starting at LM 0/1) and place it into the bottle.
2. Succuss the bottle just before ingestion 1 to 12 times depending on the sensitivity of the patient. This slightly raises the potency and activates the remedy.
3. Take 1, or more teaspoons of the medicinal solution and place it into 8 to 10 tablespoons of water in a dilution glass and stir it. Most cases are started with 1 teaspoon and the amount is increased only if necessary. In children, the amount should be 1/2 teaspoon. Infants may only need 1/4 of a teaspoon.

The dosage of the medicinal solution can be carefully adjusted to suit the sensitivity of the individual’s constitution
