It manifests as well-defined subcutaneous nodules that enlarge, degenerate, and ulcerate, leading to scrofuloderma, a skin condition affecting the face and neck. This condition is a type of tuberculosis known as cervical tuberculous lymphadenitis, which involves inflammation of the lymph nodes in the neck due to the bacteria Mycobacterium tuberculosis.
