If you feel pain behind your left ribs, which feel tender upon touching, it may due to enlarged or damaged spleen. 

In general, an adult spleen is about 5 inches long, 3 inches wide, 1.5 inches thick, and weighs about 6 ounces (170 grams).  If the sizes goes upto 8 inches or more and weighs upto 400-500 grams it points to spleen enlargement or splenomegaly
