Acidum Gallicum or Gallic acid is a type of phenolic acid. Its chemical formula is C6H2(OH)3COOH. It is obtained from gallnuts, witch hazel, sumac, oak bark, tea leaves, and other plants. It is commonly used to determine the phenol content of various analytes. It is also used in the synthesis of psychedelic alkaloid named mescaline.
