About Medisynth Guatteria Gaumeri Drops
Guatteria gaumeri Greenman (Annonacease) has been used as a bark infusion in traditional Mexican medicine for the treatment of high cholesterol (hypercholesterolemia) and the formation of gallstones (cholelithiasis). The main component is alpha-asarone which has an inhibitory action on HMG-CoA Reductase- an enzyme responsible for cholesterol synthesis
What is Hypercholesterolemia?
Hypercholesterolemia is a condition characterized by very high levels of cholesterol in the blood. In this case, there’s excessive LDL (bad) cholesterol in the blood. This increases fatty deposits in the arteries and increases the risk of blockages. LDL cholesterol reading levels should be under 110 mg/dl. The borderline high range is 110–129 mg/dl, and any reading over 130 mg/dl is high.
High levels of cholesterol may be inherited also. This condition is known as Familial Hypercholesterolemia.
Guatteria Gaumeri is also available in Mother Tincture Q form

Literature Reference to Guatteria Gaumeri (yumel):
‘Beneficial effects have also been recorded for hypercholesterolemia. The active constituents are largely unknown, with the exception of calcium oxalate, alpha-asaron and a number of other aromatic substances.’ – Vermeulen F. Synoptic Materia Medica
‘The reduction observed in the hypercholesterolemic patients (who took Guatteria Gaumeri bark extract) corresponded to 17.94 per cent of the initial values. This can be considered a good therapeutic effect, as the most commonly accepted criterion of the effectiveness of a cholesterol-lowering drug is a decrease of at least 15 percent of the initial values (Diaz del Castillo et al., 1977).’ – Cholesterol-lowering effect of Guatteria Gaumeri, Journal of Ethnopharmocology, 6 (1982) 239-242
