Homeopathy Medicines for Food Poisoning and their mode of action

The following medicines reverse the adverse allergic body reaction as a result of eating contaminated, spoiled, or toxic food. They reduce the sickness period which may last anywhere from few hours to days or even weeks later.

Arsenic album 30 : Dr says this is a very Effective medicine for food poisoning, that causes loose motions, can be used in 30C & 200C but doctor recommends 30 C. To be used at 10 minute intervals after the incident. Arsenic is considered leading medicine for cases of diarrhea that results from food poisoning. In cases needing it the stool is thin or watery, slimy with offensive or rotten smell. It may have green mucus in it.  Along with it burning sensation may be felt around the navel region. The burning is felt before and during passing stool. In most cases vomiting is also there with loose stool. Along with above symptoms weakness can be present.

Podophyllum Peltatum 30:  Dr says this medicine is recommended for diarrhea (dasth in Hindi). Homeopathic medicine Podophyllum is a plant-based medicine prepared from Mayapple (Podophyllum).  The characteristic features to use this medicine are a profuse, offensive, yellowish or greenish stool. Fetid flatus, mucus in the stool, and vomiting of hot, frothy mucus may also be present

Ipecacuanha 30: If food poisoning is accompanied by vomiting , then Ipecac 30 is recommended 3 times a day. If all the symptoms are seen that is food poisoning accompanied by vomiting and diarrhea then all the 3 medicines are advised by the doctor. Homeopathic medicine Ipecac is prepared from the ipecac root, which belongs to the natural order Rubiaceae. Ipecac is used to treat food poisoning accompanied by intense nausea and vomiting. The nausea is present all the time. Vomiting appears, but it does not relieve nausea. Vomiting of watery fluids, green mucus, or blackish matter may be present. A frothy stool and pain around navel are often noted with the above symptoms.

Dosage: 

• Arsenic album 30 2 drop every 10 minute for 1 hour
• Podophyllum 30 2 drop 3 times a day
• Ipecacuanha 30 2 drop 3 times a day
